The First Moonrise of August

The Full Moon was yesterday, infamously dubbed Blue which is apparently what we call the second Full Moon in a single calendar month. I missed that one and went after it a day later. It was no longer full, but it still made for a pretty moonrise over the fields and woods of Podravina.

This first one is a bit blurry. I drove out into the field, took the gear, started walking to the clear line of sight and then it suddenly popped over the treetops.

As usual, it was hard to get a clear shot when it is so close to the horizon. The air is restless there.

It was not long before it bumped into a cloud ceiling.

Then it spent some time hiding.

Emerging again.

Emerging again.

Something else was rising along with the Moon: darkness of the night.

But it won’t be a truly dark night, not with this thing in the sky.
